Why Edzná?

An hour south of Campeche city, Edzná delivers big-temple drama without Calakmul's drive time. The Temple of the Five Stories rises above a wide plaza — one of the most photogenic sites in the state, especially in morning light.

Quick facts

What to see

Walk the Great Acropolis complex, Platform of the Stele, and the ball court. The site is compact compared to Calakmul but vertically impressive — allow time to sit in the plaza and read the signage (Spanish primarily).

Getting there

  • Rental car: Easiest; parking at the site entrance.
  • Taxi / private driver: Agree on wait time and round-trip price from Campeche.
  • Organized tour: Useful if you prefer commentary and fixed schedule.

Combine with

Pair with a Champotón seafood lunch on the return leg, or a quiet afternoon back in the walled city. For a longer ruin focus, see Calakmul.

Practical notes

Midday heat is intense Mar–May. Light rain can make limestone slick — watch steps on the acropolis.
